Research Associates - Hybrid Energy Management
Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Nigeria - RAIN (RC1607482) is a world-class research and training facility based in Ibadan, dedicated to developing cutting-edge solutions in robotics, artificial intelligence, and automation. Founded by Dr. Olusola Ayoola, RAIN has earned recognition as a leading organization in AI and robotics talent development across Africa, hosting international delegations and collaborating on global technology initiatives.
In furtherance of RAIN’s commitment to continuously develop sector-focused AI and robotics solutions for peculiar African challenges, we are scaling up our research into innovative AI-driven solutions for the future of hybrid energy management systems—intelligent platforms for smart energy storage, seamless integration, predictive maintenance, operational optimization, intelligent and dynamic pricing. We are therefore pleased to invite highly motivated and innovative individuals to apply for the following job openings at our research facility in Ibadan.
Position A: Research Associate (Technology)
Focus:
- IoT sensor networks for data collection and real-time monitoring
- Multi-modal data mining and AI machine learning for demand and maintenance prediction.
- Development of AI enhanced mobile/web user interfaces.
- Energy load optimization algorithms
- Fraud detection and system security protocols
- Battery and fuel monitoring and management systems
- Automated switching logic for hybrid power sources
Ideal Background:
- At least a Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or any related technical field
- Research methodology and experimental design experience.
- Strong programming skills (Python, JavaScript, C++, Java or similar)
- Understanding of IoT architectures and embedded systems
- Experience with machine learning frameworks and AI applications and cloud based services.
- Mobile/web development experience.
Position B: Research Associate (Business)
Focus:
- Dynamic pricing models and tariff optimization strategies
- Financial forecasting and cost modeling
- Operations research and resource allocation
- Customer behavior analysis and market segmentation
- Business intelligence and data analytics frameworks
- Performance metrics and KPI development
- Risk assessment fraud detection and mitigation strategies
Ideal Background:
- At least a Master's degree in Business Analytics, Economics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
- Research methodology and analytical problem-solving experience
- Strong quantitative and statistical analysis skills
- Experience with data visualization and reporting tools
- Excel/SQL proficiency; Python/R is a significant advantage
- Understanding of energy markets or utility operations preferred
