RAIN

Study from abroad

Learn AI and robotics with RAIN, wherever you live.

Your cohort meets live in your own time zone, with a tutor who lives there too, in a virtual classroom and lab you share with your classmates. The curriculum, the books, the labs and the certificates are RAIN's.

How it works when you are not in Nigeria

A tutor in your time zone

Each country has cohorts by time zone. Your tutor keeps the same hours you do, and an online programme manager looks after the cohort.

Classes at sensible hours

Friday 5 pm to 7 pm, Saturday 9 am to 11 am, Sunday 8 pm to 10 pm, in your local time, all year.

A classroom you share

Classes run in the Hyper-Realistic Virtual School: classmates beside you as avatars, the board in front, and a 3D lab. You practise in the RIDE Lab between classes.

Choose your country

Each page gives your cohorts and class times, fees in your currency, how to pay, and what the certificate is and is not.

Somewhere else? You are welcome in any cohort whose times suit you. Ask us which.

Three ways to learn with RAIN

The full programmes

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML), or Robot Development and Automation (RDA), 12 months each, or both in the 24-month Combined track. Weekly projects, a final product, and a RAIN certificate. See the curriculum

The RIDE Lab

Robotics and AI labs in your browser: electronics and Arduino, robot arms, drones, SLAM, mechanisms, materials, fluid power, machine learning and more, with guided experiments and design challenges. Try the labs

Books and Professional Certificates

Read a RAIN book at your own pace, then sit its Professional Certificate exam online. Every RAIN book comes with the RIDE Lab. How certification works

More than a school

RAIN is a research and certification centre for artificial intelligence and robotics. Most of our work is building real products for real problems, and our learners learn by doing the same.

RIDE Lab

Interactive labs in the browser for electronics, robot arms, drones, SLAM, mechanisms, materials, fluid power and machine learning, which also work offline See it

Industrial Mobile Robotic Platform (IMoRP)

A prototype unmanned ground vehicle with a 250 kg payload and 15 hours of endurance, built from locally fabricated and end-of-life parts

Carbon emission tracking drone

A prototype drone that monitors carbon emissions and detects people across forested areas

Questions people abroad ask

Do I need to travel to Nigeria?

No. Everything can be done online: classes, labs, projects and exams. If you would like physical classes in Ibadan, you can choose them instead.

Who are the tutors?

Engineers and teachers who live in your time zone, recruited and trained by RAIN, working with RAIN's curriculum, books, slides and labs.

What internet connection do I need?

A steady broadband or 4G connection and a laptop. A headset helps; a VR headset is optional.

How do I pay?

By card online, or by bank transfer. Prices are shown in your currency and charged in naira, so your bank does the conversion.

Is the certificate recognised in my country?

RAIN certificates are issued by RAIN in Nigeria and are not qualifications of the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia or the UAE. Their value is the work you can show; your country page explains this in full.
